The board that oversees the Jefferson Parish Inspector General’s Office came out Thursday against a proposed ordinance that would require the office to request information in writing — a proposal that several government watchdogs have said would compromise the office’s ability to conduct covert investigations.
The members of the parish’s Ethics and Compliance Commission voted unanimously against the restrictions, proposed by Parish Councilman Mark Spears, arguing they would impede the effectiveness of Inspector General David McClintock.
