Tension over the issue of the Jefferson Parish inspector general’s access to government emails grew more heated Wednesday, with Inspector General David McClintock, the parish attorney and Parish Council members publicly debating the extent of his office’s powers.
The council deferred voting on a measure requiring Parish Attorney Deborah Foshee to draft an ordinance that would specifically prohibit the office from inspecting emails on its own, but it was not clear whether such a measure may come up again.
